About the company/role: Our client is a well-established leader in global nuclear medicine and technology, delivering world-class research and expertise to benefit Australia and support a healthier future. This is a 14-month contract based at Lucas Heights, Sydney. You'll join a specialised engineering team focused on the design, development, and deployment of industrial-scale process systems and equipment. This role suits an experienced engineer from high-hazard or heavily regulated environments - oil & gas, chemical processing, nuclear, mining, or energy and is ready to apply that expertise to technically rewarding and nationally significant work. Please note: Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this role. Security and medical clearances will also need to be satisfied. Duties:Lead or contribute to engineering packages from concept development through to manufacture, assembly, and commissioningDesign and validate industrial-scale process systems and specialised equipmentPrepare detailed engineering documentation including technical reports, specifications, datasheets, and calculationsConduct process validation using experimental design and statistical analysisDrive continuous improvement by considering alternative design concepts, constructability, operability, and lessons learntVerify designs are safe to construct, commission, operate, and decommissionEnsure all work aligns with relevant engineering codes, standards, QA, and safety requirementsCollaborate across multidisciplinary teams and provide expert technical input on system designsSupport scale-up and development of advanced process technologiesAddress design changes and discrepancies during installation and commissioning phases Skills/experience: Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or related discipline)Minimum 5 years' experience in a high-hazard or regulated industrial environment - oil & gas, chemical processing, energy, mining, or similarExperience leading or delivering engineering packages from design through to commissioningProficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)Experience with engineering computations and simulations advantageous (highly regarded)Strong knowledge of Australian and international Engineering Design Codes and StandardsAbility to produce high-quality technical documentation independentlyStrong communication and multidisciplinary stakeholder engagement skillsExperience with materials selection, process design, or powder handling advantageousAustralian Citizenship is essential Culture & Benefits:Work on complex, high-impact engineering projects that are genuinely unique in AustraliaHighly collaborative, multidisciplinary team with exceptional technical standardsExposure to advanced process technologies and world-class engineering infrastructureWork alongside industry-leading engineers and scientistsPublic transport to the company is limited from Sutherland train station, but plenty of parking is available.Pool and leisure facilities on site If you think this could be the role for you then please apply now!
