About the company: Our client is a government organisation that develops and maintains Australia’s measurement standards, providing testing and scientific services to support industry. About the role: We are seeking a systematic and organised person to join the Bioanalysis laboratory in the Upper North Shore for an 18 month contract. You will be involved in using digital PCR methods, performing method validation, maintaining lab reagents, and arranging instrument calibrations. All training will be provided. Australian citizenship, police check and base line security clearance is required for this role. Duties: You’ll be working hands on in the lab, supporting DNA testing across environmental and food samples. Day to day, you will:Conduct DNA analysis on environmental and food samples using validated molecular methodsAssist in preparing reports, protocols and general lab documentationMaintain lab supplies including reagents and consumablesCoordinate sample and material shipments (domestic and international deliveries)Maintain lab supplies, including reagents and consumablesSupport the maintenance and calibration of scientific equipmentLiaise with internal teams, suppliers and external stakeholders as requiredIdeal candidate: We’re looking for someone who enjoys being in the lab and takes pride in producing high quality work. You’ll likely have:Hands on experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR)A degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biomedical Science, or a related fieldExperience using and maintaining laboratory equipmentAbility to produce quality work while prioritising workload and meeting timelinesStrong communication skills and the ability to work well in a teamProficient in Microsoft Office and basic data handlingProactive, self motivated approach with willingness to learnEligibility:You must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for this roleThis position requires a Baseline security clearance, which you will need to obtain and maintainAs part of the role, you may handle biological materials such as human blood or wastewater.
