About the company/role:
Our client, a government organisation, is seeking an Analytical Chemist to join their team based in the western suburbs of Brisbane. This role is a full time, 6-month contract, with possible extension. 

As an Analytical Chemist, you will be required to have a strong understanding of analytical laboratory equipment, basic troubleshooting, basic general maintenance on the instruments.

Duties:
  • Use current methodology to analysis test items and interpret chemical and physical analysis mixes and matrices 
  • Conduct laboratory analysis using modern analytical equipment to include, HPLC, GC, GCMS, FTIR and ICP
  • Prepare test records, technical reports and associated communications 
  • Use document and data handling packages to process instrument derived data, calculate test results and prepare test reports for clients
  • Participate in quality control and proficiency testing 
Skills/experience:
  • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry/Science 
  • Previous experience working with a wide variety of analytical equipment, including general maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Report writing experience 
  • Experience with Chromeleon or MassHunter highly desirable
