Analytical Chemist

About the company/role:
This well-known government contract testing laboratory is looking for an experienced Research Scientist that has expertise in innovative method development and validation of analytical methods for biological fluids. The role is a full-time 12-month contract position.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop & validate novel GC-MS analytical methods for testing of biological samples.
• Calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of GC-MS/MS 
• Review scientific literature and prepare summaries of information for research projects.
• Collate and statistically analyse instrument data during method development and validation of new method protocols.
• Prepare progress reports and method documentation got assigned projects.
• Prepare presentations for internal & external stakeholders.

Skills & experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or related field
• Australian citizenship is required for this role
• Extensive experience in mass spec instrumentation - GC/MS
• Experience in method development and validation of analytical methods
• Knowledge of statistical principles and their application in chemical or biochemical analysis
• Good communication and organisational skills  
• High level of attention to detail
