Analytical Chemist

About the company/role:

• Food testing laboratory
• Seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join the team
• Based close to Melbourne CBD
• 12-month casual contract
• Full-time hours, Monday-Friday

Duties/responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain LCMS/MS and GCMS/MS instrumentation
• start-up, sequence preparation, data acquisition and limited method processing
• Process and review analytical data, assess QA/QC results against acceptance criteria
• Review, validate and report analytical results through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Perform routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Assist with validation of new methods and analytes to support laboratory capability development
• Manage own workload in accordance with rosters and work plans 

Skills/responsibilities:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, or similar discipline
• Experience operating and maintaining LCMS/MS and/or GCMS/MS instrumentation
• Proven experience as a Chemist ideally within a NATA-accredited laboratory
• Must have prior experience in the microbial analysis of food and water related samples
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• High attention to detail
