About the Company/role:We are seeking an AO5 Fisheries Officer to join the aquaculture team within the Queensland State Government based in Brisbane’s CBD. This role is a temporary, full-time position initially until the 30th of November 2025 with potential for extension.
Working within the Aquaculture, Licensing and Freshwater Fisheries directorate, the successful candidate will provide advice on legislative, policy and technical issues associated with the management of Queensland’s aquaculture industry.
Duties:- Assist with the assessment and providing recommendations for aquaculture applications and drafting conditions.
- Assist with development and updating of aquaculture policies to support the management of Queensland’s aquaculture industry.
- Manage aquaculture translocation protocols and assessing translocation applications.
- Maintaining and updating aquaculture licensing database
- Prepare and conduct the annual aquaculture production survey and prepare Aquaculture Production Summary for Queensland
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with peers, staff, clients, government agencies and other key stakeholders.
- Prepare Ministerial and general correspondence including letters and briefings as required.

- Possession of an aquaculture/fisheries or related qualification or experience in the aquaculture industry (desirable);
- Prior experience in policy development (desirable).
