About the company/role:

Our government client is looking for an AO7 Project Manager to join their team on a temporary basis until September2026. You will be working with Fisheries Queensland as part of the Digital Solutions Team which is responsible for leading and managing Fisheries Queensland system and software development and support

Duties:
 
  • Oversee and advise on robust software development, data architecture management and efficient digital system operations to meet strategic objectives and stakeholder needs.
  • Implement governance frameworks for project planning and execution, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives, legislative requirements and compliance through regular audits and risk management.
  • Work with internal teams and stakeholders to align project outcomes with organisational priorities, ensuring legislative obligations are met and addressing challenges to support strategic goals.
  • Oversee working group and board meetings, prepare agendas, and present reports that align with Queensland Government project management standards, ensuring clear and timely external reporting for compliance.
  • Identify and escalate critical issues, recommend solutions and ensure timely resolution while managing project timelines, budgets and deliverables to meet operational and legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate training tools and material as new systems and developed and delivered.
  • Work together with the Technical Lead to supervise daily team operations and foster continuous improvement and professional development to ensure team outputs align with organisational goals.

Skills/experience:
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Adept at leading efficient and results driven teams
  • Experience in navigating and contributing to digital work environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and connect with commercial fishers.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the capability to work independently.
