APS6 Senior Reporting and Systems Officer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Reporting and Systems Officer (APS6) to lead reporting, systems and performance monitoring functions within a high-profile sustainable agriculture program. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting nationally significant investments that contribute to a more sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural sector.

In this role, you will lead a small team and work closely with program staff, business areas and corporate stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting solutions, business improvements and performance insights that demonstrate program impact and support informed decision-making.

Location: This position can be based in Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide or remotely within Australia (depending on departmental requirements)

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Reporting and Systems Officer, you will:

• Lead the development and delivery of program performance reports, executive briefs and reporting products.
• Develop, maintain and enhance dashboards, reporting systems and visualisation tools, including Power BI and similar platforms.
• Analyse performance, financial and operational data to support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee data collection, validation and management processes to ensure information is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose.
• Identify trends, risks and opportunities and provide evidence-based recommendations for improvement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including the development of new reporting systems, processes, guidance materials and training resources.
• Lead and mentor a small team of up to three staff.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and collaborate across multiple business areas.
• Support staff in the effective use of reporting systems and performance information.
• Translate business requirements into practical reporting and information management solutions.

About You
To be successful, you will bring:

• Applicants must be Australian citizens and either hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Baseline security clearance.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring a small team.
• Experience developing reporting products, dashboards and data visualisations, ideally using Power BI, Microsoft Excel or similar reporting tools.
• Strong experience in reporting, program management, governance, business improvement, performance monitoring or a related field.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret information from diverse data sources.
• Well-developed written communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, briefings, guidance materials and executive correspondence for different audiences.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive working relationships across diverse teams.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes with limited supervision.
• A proactive and professional approach, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.

Desirable

• Experience or knowledge in sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, environmental programs, or related fields.
