Our client, Australia’s largest waste management company, are seeking a Chemist to join their site based in the Norther Suburbs of Brisbane! This is a casual on-going position offering approximately 30 hours per week.
The OpportunityIn this role you will support the safe and effective collection, treatment, processing, and disposal of liquid and hazardous waste.
Other responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support and guidance for the acceptance, treatment, and storage of liquid and technical waste.
- Deliver technical and analytical support to the sales team and external customers.
- Assist operations with waste management and production activities.
- Run treatability trials, select treatment methods, and validate their suitability to ensure wastes are treated safely and profitably.
- Liaise with relevant authorities and ensure compliance with legislation and company standards.

- A car and current driver’s license are mandatory
- A degree in Chemistry
- Experience working with waste or hazardous chemicals within an industrial environment is highly desirable.
- Previous exposure to wastewater treatment or chemical fixation and stabilisation facilities and field sampling experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in operating and calibrating ICP and laboratory instruments.
- Strong knowledge of risk assessments and preparation of work instructions.
- Accurate record-keeping skills within tightly regulated environments.
- Solid understanding of chemical handling legislation, including storage and disposal requirements.
