About the company/role:

We are currently recruiting for a Data Scientist (PO4/5) to join out QLD State Government client.

As a Data Scientist, you will be a part of emission modelling and analyses for Queensland Greenhouse gas emission targets.

Duties:
  • Provide professional expertise in the design and delivery of greenhouse gas modelling
  • Assist with scientific research projects, including both sector-based and facility-based emissions models and tools to evaluate GHG emissions estimation and mitigation in industry and resource sectors.
  • Offer specialist scientific expertise, technical advice and analytical support for the departments ongoing projects
  • Provide internal consulting services, handle ad hoc, quick turnaround requests customised to policy needs, and deliver data-driven policy advice based on rigorous analysis of GHG emissions data, modelling results, and scenario assessments.
  • Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights and recommendations for policy formulation and decision-making.

Skills/experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in data/computer science or closely related disciplines
  • Extensive knowledge of National Greenhouse gas emissions inventory
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge in data science, with proficiency in R or Python, Github and Power BI
  • Experience with Azure cloud desirable
  • Experience within the resource industry and emissions is highly desirable
