About the company/role:The company is a leading veterinary pharmaceutical company specializing in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of veterinary medicines for livestock and companion animals. Their team is committed to innovation and excellence, ensuring the highest standards in animal health. The EHS Officer will lead and drive continuous improvement of the site safety management system, ensuring compliance with Australian and NSW legislation and alignment with global EHS standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct and maintain risk assessments for manufacturing, R&D and laboratory activities
- Implement hierarchy of control risks and verify effectiveness through inspections
- Maintain chemical registers and SDS library
- Administer permits for hot work, confined space, energized work/isolation, and working at heights
- Conduct contractor inductions and verify licenses
- Support incident/near miss reporting, participate in investigations and track corrective and preventive actions
- Assist with internal EHS audits
- Coordinate environmental monitoring (bund integrity checks, spill kits, waste areas, VOC controls, stormwater protection)
- Maintain emergency equipment (spill kits, eyewash/showers, fire extinguishers, first aid kits)
- Support emergency response planning and drills
- Deliver EHS training, toolbox talks and maintain training records
- Ensure Training records are recorded
Skills & Experience:- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or relevant tertiary qualification
- Experience in EHS within manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of NSW WHS Regulations and relevant Codes of Practice (hazardous chemicals, risk management, confined spaces)
- Strong understanding of risk management and incident investigation methodologies
- Experience with permits-to-work, contractor management, incident investigation, and risk assessment
