About the company/role:Our client, a global leader in the water, waste and environmental industry, is currently seeking a
Laboratory Technician on a
full time-casual, ongoing basis.
This role is set to commence in mid-August, operating Monday-Friday, with the potential to transition into a permanent position in the new year. Full training will be provided.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:- Conduct sampling, testing, and analysis to maintain high water quality standards.
- Manage laboratory equipment, prepare reagents, and ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
- Maintain accurate records in the water quality database and LIMS, interpret data, generate reports, and notify relevant personnel of any quality exceedances.
- Participate in training programs, mentor staff in laboratory practices, and contribute to the development and implementation of quality systems and process improvements.
- Collaborate with operations teams on water quality and process optimization, manage external lab services, and support emergency response and KPI achievement.
Skills/experience:To be considered for this position you must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a chemical or laboratory-based discipline (or equivalent).
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Proven experience in sampling, analytical testing, and operating field and laboratory equipment, with knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes.
- Familiarity with quality assurance systems; HACCP and/or ISO22000 experience is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- Competence in using MS Office, Google Suite, LIMS, and advanced Excel and Access applications.
- High safety awareness, strong organisational skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and well-developed interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
