Laboratory Technician

About the role:
Evolve are recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to work within a dairy manufacturer in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. The position reports to the Laboratory Manager and will carry out microbial and chemical analysis on their dairy samples. This role will ensure products meet specifications and quality systems are maintained. The working hours for this role is 3-4 days per week and it is a requirement to be able to work across day, afternoon and night shift. The roster is issued every 2-weeks. 

Your duties will include:

• Microbiological and chemical testing of dairy/beverage samples
• Ensure products meet specifications
• Validation of new testing methods
• Ensure highest levels of HACCP and GMP by monitoring manufacturing
• Calibration of laboratory instruments daily and maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the lab
• Drive continuous improvement in the business

Skills & experience: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Food Science/ Microbiology or equivalent
• Previous experience in the dairy industry is highly desirable 
• Experience in a busy, fast paced food laboratory 
• Excellent communication skills with internal/external stakeholders
• Working knowledge of HACCP/GMP/GLP
• Excellent attention to detail
• Please note some manual handling is required e.g. carrying litre samples from manufacturing to lab
