About the company/role: Our client, a global environmental organisation, is currently seeking a
Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team at the Gold Coast Desalination Plant. This is a long-term casual contract role with full-time hours each week.
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for initiating and delivering mechanical engineering projects from concept through to completion. Working closely with operations, maintenance, procurement and asset management teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget while supporting the ongoing performance and reliability of a major water treatment facility.
Duties:- Plan and deliver mechanical engineering projects through the full project lifecycle.
- Prepare detailed project scopes, technical documentation, schedules and cost estimates.
- Deliver assigned projects within budget and agreed timeframes while ensuring safe execution across all phases.
- Liaise with operations, maintenance, procurement and asset management teams to support successful project delivery.
- Coordinate tender site visits, prepare purchase orders and manage procurement activities.
- Manage subcontractors and engineering consultants, including site supervision and technical oversight.
- Review and approve contractor progress claims and invoices.
- Manage project budgets, schedules and reporting.
- Ensure project documentation, drawings, operational procedures and O&M manuals are updated and maintained.
- Ensure all project activities comply with relevant WHS, environmental, quality and site-specific requirements.
Skills/experience:- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in the Mechanical area of practice, or eligibility to obtain RPEQ within an agreed timeframe.
- Post-graduate experience delivering projects within water, desalination, oil & gas, process plant or similar heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrated experience with mechanical systems including pumps, piping, pressure equipment or process plant infrastructure. Experience with reverse osmosis or membrane-based water treatment is highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and Queensland WHS legislation.
- Experience managing contractors, consultants, project budgets and schedules.
