About the Role:
Our client is looking for a metallographer who has expertise in the area of metallographic sample preparation in support of materials processing, testing and characterisation.
Responsibilities include:
  • Sample preparation of solid and powdered materials for materials processing, testing or characterisation techniques
  • Provide expertise to assess the viability of proposed approaches
  • Provide technical advice to users and liaise with other trade and professional groups
  • Manage facilities and equipment and organize an improvement program to ensure compliance with applicable standards, legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training to users, students and other visitors in the laboratory

Skills & experience:
  • Degree in Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or related discipline
  • Extensive experience in specimen preparation for electron microscopy techniques, optical microscopy and microanalysis
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to problem solve and think laterally to modify designs and apply new techniques
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
