About the company and role:
This company is a driver towards the innovation and development of infrastructure, mining assets and green energy. This is an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join the team on 6 month contract role starting as soon as possible.

This is a FIFO role, with a 8:6 roster (12.5 hour days).

Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, you will provide technical assistance and guidance to the OPF teams on the operation of OPF to achieve optimum upgrade/yield and production capabilities. In turn, you will provide the business with an accurate reporting of OPF performance.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide assistance and guidance to metallurgical technicians to ensure accuracy of laboratory results and the safe, productive use of laboratory equipment.
  • Engage with OPF plant operators on correct operation philosophy and maintenance of process units to deliver optimum quality and throughput.
  • Generate daily, weekly and EOM reports/ data on OPF production and metallurgical outputs.
  • Monitor plant performance and liaise closely with the various teams to maximize product throughput and ensure product quality is achieved.
  • Contribute to plant availability by working collaboratively with Engineering and Reliability and Maintenance to select the correct materials and required maintenance cycle.
  • Complete investigations and analysis on plant performance to identify quality improvements and undertake/ recommend remedial actions.
  • Assist in the development of budgets, cost forecasts and development of mine plans for the Process Engineering team
  • Engage in projects and/or trials to gather data and enhance performance of the OPF.
  • Assist in planning and execution of shutdown activities for relevant unit operations, e.g. screens, cyclones, classifiers, etc.
  • Provide visible safety leadership, modeling positive safety behaviors.
  • Abide by metallurgical aspects of lab production and procedures, to ensure safe and accurate work.
About you:
  • Tertiary qualification in chemical, process or metallurgical engineering or a related discipline or diploma
  • Radiation (fixed gauge) training – desirable
  • >3 years mineral processing industry experience – operational / technical.
  • Experience in a consultancy/EPCM house is desirable, but not essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory/leadership role is desirable, but not essential.
  • Robust knowledge of dry and wet mineral processing Iron Ore unit operations
  • Knowledge of iron ore processing (DSO or beneficiation)
  • Metallurgical testing methodology/ lab operations
  • Process plant operations in a mining environment
  • SCADA and PLC programming – desirable
     
In addition to this, you will possess excellent communication, time management and organizational skills. You will enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in collaboration with other like-minded team, and be self-motivated.
