About the company and role:
The company is a well-known waste management and environmental services organization who pride themselves on making a difference and working with integrity. They are seeking a Chemist to join their Karratha team immediately to assist in an ongoing project.
  • This is a 3-month contract position with the potential to extend.
  • This role requires being based in Karratha (Accommodation will be provided).
  • $50 p/h + 11.5% Superannuation
  • 10 hours/day, Monday - Saturday
The Chemist is accountable for the day-to-day analysis of hazardous materials, ensuring that this analysis is always performed in a safe and timely manner, as well as data input and monitoring.
 Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to
  • Collecting and sampling of waste.
  • Operations of the centrifuge (training provided)
  • Conduct testing on waste samples (mercury testing, flammability, flashpoint, pH etc).
  • Data input and analysis
About you:
  • Tertiary qualification in Applied Science or equivalent science discipline.
  • Previous experience in the waste industry in a similar role or previous experience in a laboratory-based position conducting similar testing.
  • Previous experience in mercury testing is desired but not essential.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • In addition to this, you will be a quality-focused individual with excellent attention to detail and have a can-do attitude.
