About the company: Our client is a leading Australian environmental services organisation operating complex waste treatment and resource recovery facilities. With a strong focus on safety, reliability and continuous improvement, they are seeking a Project Engineer to support engineering projects at their Homebush/Newington operation.

About the role: This is a hands-on, site-based Project Engineer position responsible for delivering plant upgrades, equipment installations and engineering modifications within an operating industrial facility.
You will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, contractors and suppliers to take projects from initial scoping and planning through to installation, commissioning and handover.

Duties:
  • Manage engineering projects from scope development through to commissioning and handover.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets and implementation plans.
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support procurement, installation and commissioning of plant and equipment.
  • Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Monitor project costs, risks, milestones and quality.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate site works within an operational plant environment.
  • Support plant shutdowns, upgrades and maintenance projects.
  • Manage project documentation, variations and technical queries.
  • Ensure projects comply with site safety and permit requirements.
Skills/experience:
  • Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Electrical or similar.
  • Previous Project Engineering experience within an industrial environment.
  • 3+ years experience delivering plant upgrades, equipment installations or brownfield projects.
  • Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with commissioning and project handover.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience within waste, chemical processing, oil & gas, energy, manufacturing or heavy industry highly regarded.
