About the Company/Role:     
  • Well-known corportation that manufactures fertilizer looking to recruit an enthusiastic R&D Scientist to join their team on a maternity-leave contract 
  • The position will be based between both Geelong and the Western suburb sites so candidates must have access to their own car
  • Monday-Friday, standard working hours

Duties:
Reporting to the R&D Supervisor, you will be responsible for:
  • Chemical and physical testing of fertiliser products
  • Receiving, logging, labelling, tracking, distributing and analysing samples (fertilisers, agricultural chemicals, soils and plants)
  • Designing and executing laboratory testing according to standard procedures
  • Conducting experiments under defined conditions to verify/reject various types of hypotheses using refined scientific methods
  • Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids and compressed gases according to safety instructions
  • Assist and set up agronomic experiments in laboratory, glasshouse and field.
About you:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Agronomy or related discipline
  • 1-2 years of experience as a lab technician/research assistant, ideally within the Agri-Chemical industry 
  • Knowledge of SOP, QA and QC protocols
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent attention to detail
