About the role:                
Our client, based in Brisbane’s southern suburbs, is seeking an R&D Technologist to join their Brisbane-based team, on a permanent basis. As the R&D Technologist, you will be actively involved in the innovation program with regards to the research and development of new products and application for these new technologies, as well as expanding the scope of application for existing products. You will support the innovation process on the discovery side through commercial evaluation, technical due diligence, prior-art searches, and project management.

Key Accountabilities & responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design and development of new products/technologies with a view to developing intellectual property for the company
  • Acquire and maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the use and application of the company’s products in order to resolve issues with stakeholders
  • Produce concept products utilising both internal and contract R&D equipment/facilities
  • Working with both the internal and external stakeholders; provide technical assistance for the application of existing products and new technologies;
  • Participate in the scale up activities associated with taking new product concepts through the development process to commercialization
  • Ensure new products/formulations comply with relevant regulatory requirements of the designated applications/markets
  • Utilise project management tools such as CRM, MS Projects and other Nu-Mega IT systems

Skills & Experience

To be successful for this role, you will possess the following:
  • Degree in Food Science/Technology (or related Scientific discipline) from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Minimum 3-years recent experience within the food/pharmaceutical manufacturing industry
  • Previous experience in research and development (R&D) is highly preferred
  • A good understanding of lipids, dairy liquid and/or spray-drying processes will be highly regarded
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to fit in with project work
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Capable IT skills & experience using the MS Office suite
  • A good team player
  • High level of motivation and initiative
  • Demonstrates a willingness to be coached and accepts feedback as part of a commitment to professional growth
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Current driver’s license
