About the Role:

Evolve Scientific Recruitment is seeking an established Research Officer to contribute to preclinical biology in vivo / in vitro projects. You will also be required to work within a team of radio pharmaceutical research scientists to design, plan and set up experiments, including animal handling, lab operations, mammalian cell culture, cell based assays.
 
This is a rewarding opportunity within a highly regulated laboratory environment.
 
Duties will include:
  • Handling of animal models - in vivo and ex vivo measurement of radiopharmaceuticals
  • Undertake hands on laboratory work eg mammalian cell culture
  • Ensure operational safety, quality control and compliance with applicable standards, legislation and regulations
  • Write/update safety, regulatory and compliance documents (SWMES, work instructions, animal ethics, etc.) and ensure accurate records are kept
  • Contribute to the output of biology and imaging projects through coordination and participation in experiments, including in vitro characterisation of radiopharmaceuticals, ex vivo dissections, tissue preparation and sectioning, in vivo imaging, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting.

    Skills & experience:
  • Australian citizenship essential
  • Degree (PhD/MSc preferred) in biological science, medical science, cell biology, radiation science or related
  • Demonstrated experience in laboratory animal handling (rodents), anaesthesia, monitoring, injection, and surgical techniques related to in vivo and ex vivo studies.
  • Experience working with therapeutic studies of pharmaceuticals or radiopharmaceuticals
  • Recent and relevant experience working with mammalian cell culture, cell based assays eg viability assays
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively within a team and as an independent researcher
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • This is a Mon-Fri, on site full time contract position
  • Band 5 classification - $63.54 + 12% super /hr
  • You must hold Australian Citizenship to apply for the role as this is within a Government department.
  • Applicants will need to complete a pre-employment medical and 8 week security clearance.
  • Public transport to the company is limited from Sutherland train station, but plenty of parking is available.
  • Pool and leisure facilities on site
