Evolve Scientific is proudly partnering with AbCellera in the recruitment of a Research Scientist – Protein Scientist

AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic. A team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives. They have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.

We are looking for a Research Scientist, for a 15 month contract (maternity leave cover) with experience in purification and bioanalytical methods for therapeutic antibodies to join our multidisciplinary team. This lab-based position is a great opportunity to help build our capabilities supporting lead antibody identification and progression into the clinic. If you are a highly motivated and self-directed individual, a team-player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment with multiple competing priorities, and above all, someone who can learn and grow with us this is an opportunity to join a leading biotech company.

How you might spend your days:

  • Experience with the use of mammalian systems for protein purification
  • Purifying monoclonal antibodies, antibody fragments, fusion proteins and multi-specific antibodies.
  • Performing biophysical analysis on monoclonal antibodies.
  • Organizing, supporting, and collaborating with other team members to meet project deliverables and timelines.
  • Using an ELN and database management system to compile data, generate reports, and track inventory.
  • Training and mentoring more junior scientists
  • Growing your technical skill set and engaging in professional development
Qualifications and Experience:
  • PhD in a relevant field or an MSc or Honours degree with several years of relevant molecular biology, protein production and protein analytical experience.
  • Experience with protein purification techniques such as affinity chromatography and SEC / Ion exchange chromatography.
  • Expertise in biophysical analysis of proteins, particularly monoclonal antibodies (including SDS-PAGE, SEC, IEF other HPLC methods).
  • A general knowledge of monoclonal antibody structure as it relates to biophysical properties.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a cross-functional team
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities
We’d love to hear from you if:
  • You have experience in antibody production and antibody biophysical assessment from an industry/drug development setting or academia
  • You are a creative problem solver who believes in teamwork to tackle the most challenging scientific problems.
  • You have great communication skills which are essential to this role
  • You have demonstrated the ability to manage and track day to day tasks with excellent organizational skills.
  • You are able to work in a self-directed manner, demonstrate initiative, and are willing to work flexible hours.

What we offer:
  • Easy transport access
  • The opportunity to work with an inspired team on challenging problems that matter
  • An attractive compensation package, including a competitive salary and health and lifestyle benefits
  • 15 month contract (maternity leave cover)
