About the Role: Working from our dedicated R&D Centre, we are seeking an experienced
Research Scientist with solution-based approach and a track record of success and innovation specialising in Inks, Formulation and Material Development to join our team. This will be a full-time permanent position. Reporting to the R&D Manager, you will be responsible for the identification, timely development and implementation of new products, processes and product improvements.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead the development of new products in the field of material science including speciality security inks, polymer based substrates and other novel materials, from concept to launch;
- Collaborative approach to delivering projects to time, quality and cost as agreed through requirements setting and phasegate reviews aligned with the company strategy.
- Work with technology partners for the successful implementation of new technologies and bank note features.
- Conduct lab experiments and analytical testing of produced samples to identify key operating parameters for the implementation of new technologies and existing products.
- Deliver original and innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Support continuous product improvement of the Guardian product and applied features and materials.
- Support the registration of Intellectual Property under the guidance of the R&D Manager.
- Actively engage in innovation and ideation processes to generate new product concept for review.
- Support technology sensing activities under the leadership of the R&D Manager.
Skills & Experience: Essential - PhD, Honours degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science
- Experience in R&D Environment working on development programs with a good understanding of R&D Technology Development Processes and a history of taking products to a launch stage within a manufacturing environment;
- Ability to work on projects independently with minimal day to day supervision;
- Extensive skill set in laboratory and analytical techniques;
- Demonstrated capability in managing and delivering R&D Projects, defining scope and objectives and translating customer requirements into well designed internal programs with clear milestone planning;
- Demonstrated aptitude to ideation and problem solving;
- Experience with Stakeholder Management.
Desirable- Experience with Inks or paints, formulation technologies and associated materials science;
- Proven track record of delivering products into a market utilising formal project management skills using different methodologies;
- Generation of Intellectual Property.
