About the Company - Our client is a well-established organisation providing essential environmental and utility services to communities across Melbourne's western region. - An exciting opportunity has become available for a Laboratory Technician to join their team on a contract basis. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager, you will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations and water quality monitoring programs.
- The Role This is a hands-on position suited to a motivated laboratory professional looking to gain valuable experience within an environmental testing environment. The role involves a combination of laboratory-based duties and field sampling activities, requiring a high level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
- The successful candidate will be flexible with working hours, as occasional early starts, extended shifts, or changing schedules may be required to meet operational and sampling demands.
Key Responsibilities- Collect water samples from various operational and environmental sites.
- Transport, prepare, and process samples for laboratory analysis.
- Calibrate, maintain, and operate laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Perform routine laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.
- Accurately record, document, and report laboratory data.
- Assist with laboratory quality assurance and compliance requirements.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness and undertake general housekeeping duties.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines.
- Support the Laboratory Manager and wider laboratory team with day-to-day operations.
- This role requires regular travel between multiple sites across Melbourne's western suburbs. The successful candidate must have their own reliable vehicle and be comfortable driving between locations to collect and transport samples as required.
About You You are a reliable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You possess strong communication skills and are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline) or Certificate/Diploma in Laboratory Techniques.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence and own reliable car- requires regular travel between multiple sites across Melbourne's western suburbs in your own car.
- Flexibility to work varying hours in line with operational requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a busy environment.
