About the role:

Our Sydney office is recruiting for a Sampling Assistant / Lab Technician to work within a multinational company (Ecolab) based onsite at a customer site located at Portland near Lithgow (Mount Piper Power Station). Ecolab offers field sampling and laboratory testing for a range of environmental and process water samples.

The role is an ongoing casual contract opportunity.


Responsibilities:
 
The successful candidate will report directly to the onsite Laboratory Manager. Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

  • General housekeeping duties
  • Daily sample preparation
  • Weekly preparation/cleaning of sample bottles, eskies, and ice bricks.
  • Conducting routine physical testing of samples such as pH, conductivity, turbidity, gravimetric analysis and titrations.
  • Setting up, operating and maintaining all laboratory equipment.
  • Conducting field sampling for chemistry and environmental samples (onsite process water, off site bores and regional waters around various lakes).
 
Skills/Qualifications:
 
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Chemistry or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
  • An interest in gaining experience within chemical/environmental testing.
  • Keen and diligent work ethic with good people skills to work within this enthusiastic hard working team.
  • The ability to work under minimal supervision and be self-driven.
  • Be living close to the Portland/Lithgow area with a drivers licence.
  • Exposure to analytical testing such as pH, conductivity, turbidity, gravimetric analysis, titrations would be advantageous.
