About the company/role: Our client is an Australian medical device company specialising in infection prevention. They are looking for a Senior Test Systems Technician to join them on a 6-month contract (option to extend into 2027) to assist with the assembly, wiring, testing and commissioning to improve custom built equipment while supporting upgrades and ongoing system performance.
Duties:
Hands-on electrical and mechanical assembly using hand and power tools
Building and wiring systems from schematics and drawings, knowing what to connect, how to connect it, and why
Preparing wiring harnesses, circuit boards and hand soldering as required
Creating, updating and interpreting wiring schematics and drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
Working with sensors, regulators and PLC-driven systems, understanding how sensors read pressure, targets and signals to control system behaviour
Running continuity testing, fault-finding and system validation during commissioning and upgrades
Supporting PCBA production test systems, including troubleshooting, upgrading and validating test setups
Assisting with procurement and ordering of components based on BOMs
Supporting capital projects from build through to implementation and handover
Skills/experience:
An electrical or mechatronics background with hands-on system build experience
Strong ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and mechanical drawings
Experience working with PLC-controlled systems, sensors and control components
Confidence troubleshooting wiring issues, PCB test systems and system faults
Ability to create drawings, connect systems logically and use CAD tools
A solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical principles
A strong safety mindset and familiarity with workshop safe work practices
Experience with machining or CNC is highly regarded but not essential.
