Senior R&D Chemist

About company/role:

• International cosmetic manufacturing company seeking Senior R&D Chemist to join team
• State-of-the-art facility 
• Based in the Western suburbs of Melbourne
• Full-time, permanent opportunity
• Normal business hours
• Immediate start

Duties, but not limited to:

• Develop new formulations for skincare products, including normal skincare and sunscreen products.
• Reformulate and improve existing formulas of skincare category.
• Preparation of laboratory scale batches for the purpose of formulation and development, customer samples and all testing.
• Assess cosmetic packaging for quality, functionality, and compatibility.
• Interpret customer requirements for new products, prepare samples and documentation.
• Implement product stability protocols and follow up on stability results.
• Develop, write, and review product specifications, test sheets, master formula and manufacturing instructions, in conjunction with the QA manager, QC Manager and Production Manager.
• Responsible for up scaling of new formulations to full scale production (for internal and external customers)
• Provide technical documents, such as SDS of the formulas, LOIs.

Skills/experience:

• Tertiary education in Pharmaceutical, Chemistry, Formulation Science, or similar discipline
• 3-5 years of experience in formulation of cosmetics within GMP and/or TGA facility
• Demonstrated experience in formulation and development of emulsions, suspensions, suncreams, lotions, serum, washes, etc.
• Ability to speak Mandarin would be beneficial
• Proven experiences in client communication with commercial team on formulation part.
• Experience in product development with a strong "hands-on" experience.
• Proven technical skills with extensive knowledge of R&D standards
