Nuclear Medicine manufactures and sells radiopharmaceuticals and radiochemical products, operating to GMP, ISO, ARPANSA, and TGA regulations.
About the role: Evolve Scientific is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead safety and compliance within a leading nuclear medicine facility. You will provide strategic direction, drive a strong safety culture, and ensure regulatory obligations are met in a complex, high-hazard environment.
This position is part of the senior leadership team and is responsible for the creation, implementation, and ongoing establishment of a high-standard safety program. Ideal candidates will have extensive safety management experience in high-risk manufacturing environments and strong leadership skills, enabling them to drive meaningful improvements in safety performance across a multifaceted facility.
Reporting to the General Manager, the role will entail:
- Providing strategic leadership in safety, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Developing and implementing risk management programs, fostering a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies and safety standards
- Leading competency-based training initiatives, applying industry best practices and innovation.
- Collaborating across departments and senior stakeholders to embed safety into operational planning and projects.
- Supporting the introduction of new nuclear medicine capabilities, ensuring safety remains at the forefront.
- Strengthening internal and external networks to enhance safety and performance outcomes.
About You: To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Degree qualifications in a relevant field, plus postgraduate expertise in Work Health & Safety or extensive industry experience.
- Previous experience in a high-risk environment such as chemical processing, pharmaceutical, mining, oil and gas, hospitals, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
- Strong leadership experience within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or high-hazard environments, with a focus on change management and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate with regulatory bodies to uphold high-level safety standards.
- Extensive experience in incident investigations, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance strategies.
- A demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a high-performance safety culture.
- Membership (or eligibility) with the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS) is highly regarded.
- Proven ability to work independently and be a self-motivated leader.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO 9001, and TGA requirements.
- Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this role.
Culture/Benefits:- This is a full time permanent role.
- The salary will be dependent on experience: - $154,980 - $174,245 + 15% Superannuation
- Work with a premier research organisation
- Public transport to the company is limited but plenty of parking is available.
- Monday to Friday with flexible hours available (24 manufacturing operations).
