They host Australia's most significant research infrastructure, benefiting thousands of scientists annually. Nuclear Medicine manufactures and sells radiopharmaceuticals and radiochemical products, operating to GMP, ISO, ARPANSA, and TGA regulations.

About the role:
Evolve Scientific is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead safety and compliance within a leading nuclear medicine facility. You will provide strategic direction, drive a strong safety culture, and ensure regulatory obligations are met in a complex, high-hazard environment.
This position is part of the senior leadership team and is responsible for the creation, implementation, and ongoing establishment of a high-standard safety program. Ideal candidates will have extensive safety management experience in high-risk manufacturing environments and strong leadership skills, enabling them to drive meaningful improvements in safety performance across a multifaceted facility.

Reporting to the General Manager, the role will entail:
  • Providing strategic leadership in safety, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Developing and implementing risk management programs, fostering a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies and safety standards
  • Leading competency-based training initiatives, applying industry best practices and innovation.
  • Collaborating across departments and senior stakeholders to embed safety into operational planning and projects.
  • Supporting the introduction of new nuclear medicine capabilities, ensuring safety remains at the forefront.
  • Strengthening internal and external networks to enhance safety and performance outcomes.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualifications in a relevant field, plus postgraduate expertise in Work Health & Safety or extensive industry experience.
  • Previous experience in a high-risk environment such as chemical processing, pharmaceutical, mining, oil and gas, hospitals, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
  • Strong leadership experience within manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or high-hazard environments, with a focus on change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate with regulatory bodies to uphold high-level safety standards.
  • Extensive experience in incident investigations, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance strategies.
  • A demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a high-performance safety culture.
  • Membership (or eligibility) with the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS) is highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to work independently and be a self-motivated leader.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO 9001, and TGA requirements.
  • Australian Citizenship is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Culture/Benefits:
  • This is a full time permanent role.
  • The salary will be dependent on experience: - $154,980 - $174,245 + 15% Superannuation
  • Work with a premier research organisation
  • Public transport to the company is limited but plenty of parking is available.
  • Monday to Friday with flexible hours available (24 manufacturing operations).
