About the company:

Our client, a reputable packaging organization is rapidly growing. They manufacture packaging products for the Food and dairy industry and are currently seeking a Trades qualified toolmaker to join their thriving organization on an ongoing basis with an outlook to go permanent.

Reporting directly to the Site Manager this, significant position is crucial for the ongoing success of this site.  This role will be based in the Southeastern suburbs of Melbourne. The role will be flexible to morning or afternoon hours initially, however, when the candidate moves into a permanent position must be able to work afternoon hours.

About the role:

Reporting to the Site Manager, you will oversee continuous & thorough upkeep of all production machinery across the manufacturing facility. This will include, but is not exclusive to, preventative maintenance, overhauls, small project work & fabrication work with a strong emphasis on machine up-time & reliability.

Duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Working closely with the Manufacturing Engineer to ensure any potential risk to plant and equipment are realised, captured & actioned.
  • Give valuable feedback regarding all aspects of plant improvements, preventative maintenance and potential efficiency gains whilst maintaining great time management around the weekly production schedule.
  • Ensure all safety issues are given high priority and are addressed with a sense of urgency and reported directly to the manager.
To be successful in this position you will have:


  • Trade certified Toolmaker certificate.
  • Electrical D-license (nice to have)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance/reliability within pharmaceutical, food & beverage, FMCG or other highly regulated industries
  • Proven experience in maintenance, fabrication and troubleshooting within a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MEX (Computer Maintenance Management systems) or similar.
  • Sound understanding of mechanical and pneumatic schematics.
  • Strong ability to build rapport and an effective working relationship with key internal stakeholders.
  • A proactive and informed approach to OH&S standards
  • Previous experience in a highly regulated manufacturing industry
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
