The company is a well-established leader in the field of specialised life science research and is recognised worldwide. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience supporting research projects across universities, medical research institutions and industry. The company is based in the southern suburbs of Sydney.
 
The role of the Graduate Chemist is to undertake the research and development of new metallurgical processes.
 
Duties:
The successful candidate will:
  • Possess & apply an understanding of the chemical reactions and related theory involved in metallurgical processes
  • Develop and improve processes involved in treating ores and mineral concentrates
  • Conduct experimental work and ensure that the data obtained is reproducible and appropriately recorded
  • Analyse, summarise and interpret data from experimental and pilot programs
  • Identify gaps that need to be filled, to draw conclusions and develop process solutions
  • Produce first-draft technical notes and reports for project managers to facilitate reporting to clients
 
Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry/Chemistry and/or Hydrometallurgy is essential, honours degree preferred
  • Any research experience in Applied Chemistry/Chemistry and/or Hydrometallurgy would be highly regarded
  • The ability to work under limited supervision, prioritise work and respond to changing priorities and deadlines to complete assigned duties
  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures, regulations and OHSE requirements
